Josh Prigge has masters degree in education and is an author and university professor. He was born in Korea, adopted, and grew up in Minnesota. A lot of the scenes from Ben, are inspired by the midwest and his hometown Winona.
"I used to love writing poems when I was a child. I never expected to become an author, I just loved writing. I'm so happy to be able to share our stories through our picture books."
Miba studied film in Chung Ang University. She has directed several short films, some of which are aired on Olleh TV in Korea (Vanish Away, Directed, 2004). She didn't study painting, but she wants to makes picture books based on her film scripts.
"There are a lot of similarities between picture books and filming. I love making picture books and appreciate all of the people involved in the process of this journey. We'd like to keep making beautiful picture books."
Together they are award winning picture book creators nominated as finalists for the International Book Award, USA Best Book Award, and Foreword Reviews INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award. Their written work includes Late Larva, Neo the Cool Cat, I feel like we don’t belong here and Ben. They currently work and live in South Korea and will be in Minnesota for the summer.
About us
조쉬 프리기(Josh Prigge)는 미국에서 교육학 석사과정을 수료하고, 현재 대학에서 영어를 가르치며, 그림책 작가로 활동하고 있다. 한국에서 태어나 미국으로 입양되어 미네소타에서 어린시절을 보냈다. 실제로 다시 봄 그리고 벤의 수많은 장면들은 그의 고향인 미네소타, 위노나의 풍경들을 담고 있다.
“어렸을 때부터 시 짓는 것을 좋아했습니다. 시인이 된다거나 작가가 될거라고 생각했던 것은 아니었어요. 그저 무언가 끄적이는 것이 좋았습니다. 그림책을 통해 많은 분들과 이야기를 나눌 수 있어 무척 행복합니다."
미바(박민하)는 중앙대학교 영화학과에서 영화연출을 전공했고, 다수의 단편영화를 연출하였다. 그녀의 단편영화들은 올레TV를 통해 상영중이다. (Vanish Away(연출, 2004), 와이키키 허니문(연출, 2008) 등)
그림은 따로 배우지 않았고, 그림책 작업을 통해 영화화하려 했던 시나리오들을 그림책으로 펴나가는 중이다.
“그림책과 영화를 만드는 과정은 여러가지 면에서 굉장히 닮아 있습니다. 책을 만드는 과정을 통해 함께한 분들과 하나의 작품을 완성해 나가는 일이 무척 즐겁습니다. 사부작사부작 느린 걸음이 될지라도 저희만의 속도로 아름다운 그림책을 만들어가고 싶습니다.”
두번째 그림책, '니오더쿨캣 Neo the Cool Cat'이 인터내셔널 어워드, USA베스트북어워드, 포워드리뷰 INDIEFAB 북어워드 결선작으로 선정되었습니다.
